Description

Organic Coconut Palm Sugar is harvested from a flower.

Organic Coconut Palm Sugar is a popular choice because it has a fragrant ‘caramelly’ flavour.   Coconuts have been harvested and used for thousands of years in South and South-East Asia.  Coconuts are a great crop because they can be used for their shell, flesh, water, oil and palm flower nectar.

Organic coconut palm sugar is has its own unique flavour so it adds more than sweetness to a recipe.  It contains a wide range of nutrients so is perfect for anyone following a whole food diet.  Coconut sugar is a perfect addition to baking recipes, raw desserts or simply to sweeten hot drinks.

This sugar is made by harvesters.  The workers make an incision on the flower of the coconut palm to release the sap.  The sap is heated to evaporate any moisture and reduce it into sugar crystals.  The final result looks a bit like demerara sugar and has a rich, aromatic flavour similar to caramel.  This rich, fragrant sugar is deep brown in colour and is truly delicious.

If you want a recipe to get started with try this yummy lemon cake or this decadent chocolate granola recipe.

Family Tip:

  1. Coconut sugar is a great alternative to normal white sugar in any baking recipe.
  2. We love coconut sugar and find it goes particularly well with walnuts, hazelnuts and cacao for a winning team!
  3. All sugar is sugar – so coconut sugar is best twinned with protein to keep blood sugar levels more stable.
