Description

Organic Cashew Nuts help your body make seretonin.

Organic Cashew Nuts are decadent and delicious.  They are a common favourite due to their wonderful creamy texture and this makes them perfect for milk, cashew cheese, smoothies, curries, raw desserts or nut butter.  Their range of nutrients makes them a fantastic snack and as they have high levels of B6 and tryptophan they help your body make serotonin – your happy hormone!

Cashew nuts are technically a seed because they grow out of a fruit.  The shell they come from is actually toxic but removing the shell and heating it results in the creamy nut you know and love.  The cashew tree is a tall and fast growing evergreen.  In the right conditions it can reach up to fifty feet high.

Before the cashew nut is gently roasted it is green in colour, the heating process turns them a lovely golden colour.  You cannot eat raw cashew nuts because it would make you ill, but some cashews are lightly steamed and these are sometimes labelled as raw.

Organic cashew nuts are great toppings for porridge and smoothie bowls.  Have a go at this delicious tried and tested chocolate smoothie bowl recipe.

If you want to use your cashew nuts for making raw desserts or for cooking then save some money and try our organic cashew nut pieces.

Family Tip:

  1. We think cashews are lovely in salads but also use them in cooked recipes like stir fries.
  2. They are particularly delicious if you dry-fry or toast them lightly.  It gives them a more-ish crunch.
  3. Try them in Thai Som Tam salad in the place of peanuts – you won’t go back!
  4. We find they are a real favourite for children to snack on as they are soft and creamy.
